TMS Looks Forward to Greeting Attendees in San Francisco
2009 Annual Meeting Could be Largest in Society History Posted February 5, 2009
With less than two weeks until TMS 2009 commences in San Francisco, attendees are gearing up for what could be one of the largest Annual Meetings in TMS history.
TMS 2009 is February 15–19 and showcases authors and exhibitors from across the globe, diverse materials science symposia, and career resources to help professionals as they weather the current economic storm.
The Annual Meeting began to shape up to be the largest when the call for abstracts produced more than 3,000 entries. In 2008, less than 2,500 were submitted. To date, nearly 3,000 attendees have pre-registered for TMS 2009. Another 500 are expected to register on-site.
All registered attendees have access to the Exhibit Hall where more than 130 exhibitors will showcase their companies’ products.
In addition, for the first time in TMS history, a Premier Green Sponsor has stepped up to support environmentally friendly initiatives at the meeting. Fives Solios, as the Premier Green Sponsor, is providing financial support for such green endeavors as re-usable canvas conference bags and recycling bins for Annual Meeting programs. Alcoa has also signed on as a major sponsor, supporting the annual student quiz competition that has been named the Alcoa 2009 Material Bowl.
