Looking Forward to TMS 2009: A Student Affair...
TMS 2009 Offers Students the Chance to Network, Compete, and Contribute
Posted January 6, 2009
The TMS 2009 Annual Meeting presents unique opportunities for students to meet with professionals in their fields of study from around the world and other students. In addition to having access to technical sessions and the exhibition, TMS 2009 offers a variety of events organized specifically for students.
The student events begin with the preliminary elimination rounds of the 3rd Annual Materials Bowl at noon on Sunday, February 15. The day continues with many other student activities.
Twelve Material Advantage teams will compete for the coveted Materials Bowl trophy. Teams of students will try their luck at answering questions from six categories. The Student Poster Contest includes both undergraduate and graduate students and displays student poster presentations of technical interest to professionals in each of the five TMS technical divisions.
Students are also welcome to attend the student orientation where they can meet other students with similar interests, and the Student Networking Mixer. Representatives from key materials industries will be available to give students advice in the Career Forum and Resume Writing and Job Interviewing session. Students can also extend a hand to San Francisco residents during the Hands On Bay Area Project.
For more information on all of the student activities, visit the Student Activities section of the TMS 2009 Annual Meeting web site.
