Posted January 21, 2009
TMS 2009 attendees will be able to attend talks by the worlds’ leading aluminum companies at the Aluminum Plenary Session. The session, "Challenges for Sustainable Growth in the Aluminum Industry—Through the Current Crisis and on to the Future," will focus on the current economic situation with a comparison to past recessions in the metals industry. In addition, it will incorporate future metals industry projections.
The session will challenge the wider technical community to solve issues related to the growth of aluminum production, communicate the vision for corporate social responsibility, and reinforce the positive contributions of the aluminum industry to value creation for society.
The invited speakers are Dave Persampieri, vice president and practice leader of Mining, Metals, and Materials for CRA International, Dick Evans of Rio Tinto Alcan, Jan Arve Haugen of Hydro, Galdino Claro of Aleris, and Bill O’Rourke of Alcoa.
The session is free and will be held beginning at 8:30 a.m. Monday in the Moscone Convention Center. For more information, visit the Networking and Events section of the TMS 2009 Annual Meeting home page
