TMS2016 offers a number of activities and events designed to meet the specific needs of young professionals, aged 40 and under, working in the minerals, metals, and materials science and engineering fields.
Meet a Mentor
Date: Monday, February 15
Time: 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Location: Omni Nashville Hotel, Legends D
This event will match mentors and mentees for scheduled meetings in an informal atmosphere. Whether the conversation is technical in nature or focuses on how to get more involved in TMS, this event will give professionals the opportunity to make new connections and expand their network. Due to the nature of this event, advance registration is required.

2016 Technical Division Young Professional Poster Contest
Date: Monday, February 15
Time: 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Location: Music City Center, Hall C
The five technical divisions of TMS will sponsor a poster contest at the TMS 2016 Annual Meeting & Exhibition where young professional members (age 40 and under) will develop technical poster presentations and discuss them during a scheduled showing.
Each of the technical divisions will award $500 to the best poster in their division.

Young Professional Happy Hour Reception

This reception provides young professionals the opportunity to network with more experienced TMS members in a relaxed, social atmosphere.

"Meet the Candidate" Interactive Session
Date: Monday, February 15
Time: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Location: Music City Center, Hall C
Graduate students, post-docs, and early career professionals will show potential employers their qualifications—not just their current research—at a special poster session planned for the TMS 2016 Annual Meeting & Exhibition. Sponsored by the TMS Young Professional Committee, the "Meet the Candidate" Interactive Session allows young professionals to network with employers looking for high-caliber personnel for positions in national laboratories, academia, and industry.

Young Professional Committee Meeting

Location: Omni Legends D
The mission of the Young Professionals Committee is to create opportunities and provide avenues for young professionals to increase their involvement in The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society. This committee meeting is open to all TMS members, age 40 or younger, who have graduated.
