This article focuses primarily on the methods and technology used by scrap dealers to recycle purchased scrap. Discussion about the supply and use of this scrap is limited to how processing influences the availability and handling of the scrap. The sections “Recycling Iron and Steel Scrap” and “Recycling Stainless Steel and Superalloy Scrap” in this article describe the size of the scrap recycling industry, scrap use by industry, scrap demand, and the scrap supply.
