TMS 2012: Special Events & Networking: Materials Innovation @ TMS
March 11-15, 2012 • Orlando, FL

Join TMS in launching this exciting initiative focused on accelerating materials discovery and commercialization through the effective integration of computational and experimental tools that serve to unify and streamline design and manufacturing processes.

RELATED EVENTS

Plan now to take advantage of the many opportunities being developed for TMS 2012 to gain new knowledge and insights, exchange ideas, forge new professional relationships, and contribute to shaping this potentially transformative approach in materials science and engineering (MSE). Highlights include:

  • Integrating Materials and Manufacturing Innovation (IMMI)
Debut of Integrating Materials and Manufacturing Innovation (IMMI), TMS’s new Open Access journal that combines peer review rigor with enhanced digital content to share innovations from materials discovery through manufacturing on a rapid, continuous basis. For more information, visit IMMI.tms.org.
  • Special Plenary Sessions
A special plenary session presenting key issues and developments related to Materials Innovation @ TMS principles and priorities, including an update on the U.S. Materials Genome Initiative (MGI)—a multi-stakeholder effort to develop an infrastructure that will make advanced materials development faster, less expensive, and more predictable.
  • Continuing Education
Continuing education courses offering intensive learning experiences on the practical application of the latest knowledge and techniques. Topics include "Integrated Computational Materials Education," "Existing and Needed Computational Capabilities of Ni-base Superalloys ," and "Process Energy Modeling."
  • Federal Funding Workshop
An opportunity to learn from and interact with program managers from U.S. federal agencies at the Federal Funding Workshop highlighting funding opportunities related to the Materials Genome Initiative.
  • Open Innovation Program
A chance to offer your ideas on developing innovative TMS knowledge sharing resources, as well participate in addressing critical MSE issues through TMS’s new Open Innovation program. For more information, visit openinnovation.tms.org.

Exhibits, Lunch and Learn programming, and networking events to acquaint you with the services, resources, volunteer activities, and other opportunities available to you as part of Materials Innovation @ TMS.

Check the Materials Innovation @ TMS website regularly at materialsinnovation.tms.org for updates on these and other TMS 2012 activities, as well as information and tools that you can use to implement related principles and techniques within your own organization or team.
