Workshop Overview
This course will provide general fundamental information about electrochemical processing of metals
that apply to a wide variety of metals. The attendees will learn about overvoltages, electrolyte
composition, current density, current efficiency, power consumption, deposit smoothing, and many
other factors that are relevant to industrial electrowinning and electrorefining.
This course will provide
more in-depth information about industrial electrowinning of copper and zinc, including commercial
operating parameters, solution purification, power, and current issues. The short course will
also include an overview of fundamentals and commercial practices for copper electrorefining.
