The Energy Materials Blue Ribbon Panel convened by TMS has released “Linking Transformational Materials and Processing for an Energy- Efficient and Low-Carbon Economy: Creating the Vision and Accelerating Realization.” The Vision Report, as it is also known, culminates the first phase of work in a two-part study commissioned by the U.S. Department of Energy Industrial Technologies Program in February 2010. While it addresses an array of technologies in which new materials and processing breakthroughs can lead to transformational advances in the long term, the report also highlights improvements in energy materials that can deliver significant payoffs in the near future.
