The Resource Optimization Initiative (ROI), a not-for-profit entity, has been set up to introduce planning and tools, based on Industrial Ecology, to policy makers in governments and businesses of developing countries.

ROI is registered as a Public Charitable Trust in India, with its registered office in Bangalore, India.
The major focus of the ROI, to begin with, would be Land, Water and Energy – the three major resources of concern in most developing countries.
