This article describes a graduate level course taught at University of Michigan on computational methods, particularly pertaining to soft matter. Details concerning teaching method, simulation tools used, and student learning teams are provided. Class modules cover an overview of ab initio methods for soft materials, force fields, molecular dynamics, collision dynamics, Monte Carlo, dissipative particle dynamics, field-theoretic models, and multiscale simulation strategies.
