Two years ago, the U.S. National Academies released the much-praised report Rising Above the Gathering Storm: Energizing and Employing America for a Brighter Economic Future, which sounded many warnings about the future of math, science, and engineering in the United States. In April, the National Academy of Engineering conducted a symposium to measure progress toward implementing the recommendations of the report.
