The TMS Foundation co-sponsored a five-day Materials Camp for Teachers at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh in June 2009. The links below lead to videos demonstrating some hands-on strategies to help high school students better understand materials science and what it may offer as a career path.

Launch "Iron Wire Demo"
Launch "Models of Crystals"
Launch "Sodium Acetate Demo"

Hi Lynne,

The Sodium Acetate Demo only plays an audio of a failed demo when I launch it (Microsoft Media Player). Not sure if the problem is in the original source file or on my end, but wanted to alert you.

Also, it would be nice to link to the ASM Foundation Site's "Resources" for teachers and volunteers from this post since there are many useful resources for Materials Camp planning already available there.

Best regards,
Peg Jones, TMS Member & ASM Materials Camp volunteer.
