This movie shows phase field solidification model results for a circular nucleus growing into an undercooled melt. The underlying mesh, temperature, and order parameter field are shown. Other work by this group on solidification microstructure modeling is described on the site under "Multi-Scale Modeling" and pdf versions of research papers are available.
