This detailed presentation to the University Materials Council, composed of Department Heads and other leaders of M.S.E. academic programs, makes the case for incorporating the fundamentals of nanoscale materials across the M.S.E. curriculum. Updating the traditional M.S.E. curriculum in this way allows for students to learn about the relevance of bio- and nanoscience, quantum materials, visualization capabilities including SPM, AFM, and STEM, nanolithography, organic based soft materials, and computational materials science and engineering. And, as graphically shown in Davies' presentation, student interest and enrollment in M.S.E. at University of Pennsylvania has increased dramatically.
