This PowerPoint presentation covers the requirements for automotive applications and the challenges for the development of creep resistant castings and wrought alloys. Commercial and new HPDC and gravity casting alloys are highlighted. Emphasis is placed on the need for a full grasp of performance requirements, a multidisciplinary team of industry and university experts, and an understanding of creep behavior and mechanisms for rapid development of new materials. Ongoing research in Canada is described.
