Access and CD-adapco announce joint development of the new casting simulation software starcast, based on a comprehensive and fully coupled computational continuum mechanics approach. starcast provides a multiphase mould filling module – liquid, solid and gaseous - with the full range of computational fluid dynamics features of CD-adapco's flagship CFD code, STAR-CD: including conjugate heat transfer, a sharp resolution of the filling front, free-surface fragmentation, motion of trapped gas bubbles in melt, natural convection in melt and gas. Applications include:
• centrifugal investment casting
• gravity die casting
• automated gravity die casting
• counter pressure casting
• high-pressure die casting
starcast also exclusively provides an interface to the microstructure evolution Software MICRESS.
