FIDAP offers numerous physical and numerical models for simulations ranging from highly viscous laminar flows to fully turbulent flows. Complex free surface flows can be modeled with both the arbitrary Lagrange-Eulerian (ALE) and the volume of fluid (VOF) methods, in combination with solid deformation, if appropriate. Solid bodies can be included in the simulation either after a phase change (metal casting or crystal growth, for example) or as a result of fluid-structure interaction (FSI). Other multiphysics applications can be solved in FIDAP using models for electrohydrodynamics (EHD) and magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). Applications include polymer processing, thin film coating, biomedical, semiconductor crystal growth, metallurgy, and glass processing. FIDAP operates on Unix/Linux or Windows environments.
