As this issue covers, in addition to other things, the history, economics, and technology of the aluminum
industry, the cover provides a historical perspective of an event considered to
be a pinnacle of the industry--the dedication of the aluminum pyramid cap on
the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. The cover depicts a reproduction of
the December 20, 1884, front page of Harper's Weekly. A history of the
cap begins the aluminum coverage on page 20.
