Emerging Professionals Committee

The Emerging Professionals Committee (formerly the Young Professionals Committee) is one of the TMS Functional Committees.

Our Mission & Purpose: The Emerging Professionals Committee is a subcommittee of the TMS Membership Diversity & Development Committee. EPC’s mission is to provide a forum for early careerists that supports professional development and social consciousness through opportunities to interact professionally and socially with peers. Additionally, EPC’s purpose is to develop plans to recognize emerging and early career professionals, develop appreciation and awareness for TMS activities, and provide representation of its members to the wider TMS society and beyond.

In order to accomplish this mission stated above the objectives of this committee are as follows:
  1. Bring emerging professionals together to make contacts with Society leaders;
  2. Network with prominent TMS members;
  3. Promote recognition of the committee by holding meetings and receptions;
  4. Promote TMS' commitment to advancing programs to provide the opportunity for emerging professionals to contribute and influence the future direction of the Society;
  5. Encourage participation of its members in divisions and technical or functional committees;
  6. Commit to incorporating the values of diversity, equity, and inclusions in the governance and operations of this committee;
  7. Intern emerging professionals on the board and as committee chairs.

Committee Eligibility

Any TMS member in good standing that meets the following criteria may join the committee:
  • Under 40 years of age or no more than 10 years past their final degree, whichever occurs last.
