The Orlando Materials Innovation Principles provide guidance on pursuing collaborative efforts with the intent of accelerating the materials innovation process to drive manufacturing and economic growth. They were developed as an outcome of the TMS Materials/Manufacturing Leaders Summit on March 15, 2012, in Orlando, Florida, that drew on the expertise of 50 thought leaders to identify approaches addressing the challenges presented by the U.S. Materials Genome Initiative (MGI). TMS organized the Summit in cooperation with the U.S. Council on Competitiveness.

Become an Orlando Materials Innovation Principles Signatory
The Orlando Materials Innovation Principles calls upon the diversity of
disciplines and sectors vital to the U.S. manufacturing economy. This includes
manufacturers, suppliers, and related business entities, as well as
universities, government laboratories, and professional societies. TMS welcomes
endorsement of the Orlando Materials Innovations Principles by members of the
materials and manufacturing community whose organizations support them.
Support of the Orlando Materials Innovation Principles indicates that the signer
endorses the intent of the Principles but does not obligate the organization to
any financial or other commitment. It is intended only as a statement of values
that we as a community can collectively embrace. Any commitment of an organization
to a specific project or activity is separate from endorsement of the Principles
and would be at the organization’s discretion on a case-by-case basis. Those providing endorsement
should be authorized representatives of the organization. Confirmation will be provided
following review.
