Alafara Abdullahi Baba is currently the deputy director of Central Research Laboratories and is an associate professor of industrial chemistry at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
Baba joined the service of the University of Ilorin in 2002 as assistant lecturer and was promoted to readership position in 2014. Prior to joining the University of Ilorin, he taught Chemistry and Applied Chemistry courses at COET, Lafiagi, Kwara State and Moro LGSS, Oloru, Kwara State, Nigeria between 2000-2002 and 1991-2000, respectively.
His research interests include Analytical/Industrial and Materials Chemistry with in-depth studies on dissolution kinetics/reactions in solution, chemical metallurgy and solvent extraction for appropriate ore beneficiation for industrial utilities. Hani Henein

After completing an M.Eng. at McGill University and a Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia, Henein took up a faculty appointment at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
In 1989, he moved to the University of Alberta actively teaching and doing research on pipeline steels, metal-matrix composites and rapid solidification. He partners with industry in research and has extensive international collaborations.
As part of his mentoring activities, he formulated an international work abroad program for undergraduates in several high quality engineering programs in Europe and Japan, placing over 80 students since 2002. In 2011, he formulated a dual degree program with the Université de Lorraine.
Among the distinctions he has received are five best paper awards, the prestigious Killam Research Fellowship, and the Metals Chemistry Award. He has been inducted Fellow of ASM International, CIM and the Canadian Academy of Engineers.
In service, Henein plays a leadership role in the profession as the 1998 MetSoc President, Past Editor of CMQ, and the 2014 President of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS).

Fernand Marquis is a professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at San Diego State University in San Diego California, and has also been a Professor at the Wayne E. Meyer Institute of Systems Engineering and the Department of Systems Engineering at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey California.
His most recent research focuses on Nanotechnology and Nanosystems, Nanostructured Hybrid Material Systems, Alternative and Renewable Energy Systems, Defense Energy Systems and Thermal Management Systems and Nano and Microstructural Design of Multifunctional Materials.

He holds several patents and patent applications, eleven disclosed inventions of available technologies for licensing and commercialization, over ninety refereed publications, has edited eight books, and has written several book chapters, over 35 special reports and five monographs.
Marquis has received many TMS awards and other awards, has been active on many boards and committees and served as a reviewer for numerous journals.

E-Wen Huang is an assistant professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the National Chiao Tung University. He has conducted experimental and modeling work in the areas of metals facilitating neutron and synchrotron x-ray scattering at international facilities such as NSRRC, ESRF, ORNL, JPARC, KAERI, and APS.
Many of the works of his students have received prestigious awards, including scholarships granted by the American Conference on Neutron Scattering, Exhibition of Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement (EURēCA) Award, and many others.
Huang is a recipient of TMS Young Leaders Professional Development Award, Ludo Frevel Crystallography Scholarship Award, and Extraordinary Professional Promise of Chancellor’s Honors of The University of Tennessee. He is an adjunct researcher of the Industrial Technology Research Institute for Metal Additive Manufacturing Research and the chair of User Executive Committee of the National Synchrotron Radiation Center.

Pedro Dolabella Portella

Pedro Portella received his Bachelor in Metallurgical Engineering and his Master in Materials Engineering at IME, the School of Engineering of the Brazilian Army in Rio de Janeiro. In 1984 he got his Dr.-Ing. degree in Erlangen, Germany, with a thesis on high-temperature creep of a Fe-Ni-Cr alloy.
After a short stay at the Catholic University in Rio de Janeiro, PUC-RJ, he joined the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in Berlin, Germany, in 1987. Since 2000 he has been the head of the Materials Engineering department.
According to the tradition of this institute, one of his concentration areas is failure analysis and prevention. In the period 2010-2011 he was the President of the Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS). He is an Honorary Member of FEMS, of SPM, the Portuguese Society of Materials, and of SF2M, the French Society of Metals and Materials.
