SPECIAL EVENTS

Meet the Candidate Employment Poster Session
- Date: Sunday, March 11
- Time: 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Location: Dolphin Resort, Atlantic Room
Organized by the TMS Young Leaders Committee, this new TMS event is designed to create networking opportunities for young professionals that will allow them to connect with potential employers for post-doctoral, full-time, or faculty positions. Candidates will present a poster to potential employers. Planned participants will hail from a number of employers from various universities, industries, and national lab.

Members of the TMS Board of Directors plan to hold this annual event to engage society members in discussions that will give a current picture of the status and financial health of the society, provide an open forum to discuss membership, its benefits and potential ways for improvements, and help shape the future direction of TMS.

Join TMS in honoring the best among the materials science & engineering community. Incoming 2012 TMS President Wolfgang Schneider will also be recognized and will present his vision for the new year. This year, the banquet will be held in the World Showcase Pavilion in EPCOT and will be followed by a "Disney Illuminations" fireworks extravaganza.

- Special Plenary: Reaching New Heights: Materials Innovation in the Aerospace Industry
- IOMMMS Global Materials Forum: Materials in a Green Economy: An International Perspective
  - Around the world, nations are seeking to address the challenging problems of efficient energy production and use, greenhouse gas reduction and carbon management, and energy security. In this symposium, perspectives on the role of materials science and engineering with a particular focus on technically-driven innovations in the overall reference frame of sustainability will be presented by representatives from materials science and engineering societies of many countries. Ten presentations are approved for this Plenary Session, including an invited talk by AIME President Brajendra Mishra, "The Role of Materials Recycling in Economic Sustainability."
