The 2012 NanoNuclear Workshop
June 6-8, 2012 • Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center • Gaithersburg, Maryland
The 2012 NanoNuclear Workshop was a 2 1/2 day, inaugural event developed to provide a recurrent forum for bridging the gap between "nano" and "nuclear."
Just as the new frontier of the last century was "space," the new frontier in the beginning of this new millennium is "nano space." Nanoscience has
revolutionized huge expanses of high technology (electronics and medicine) with amazing attributes previously beyond credibility. This TMS-sponsored
workshop expands on preliminary exploratory efforts in this regard by opening the technical aperture to focus on nanostructured materials in certain
reactor applications.
The New Frontier: The Launch of NanoNuclear Research and Development
View a collection of 11 presentations from the 2012 NanoNuclear Workshop: Nuclear Fuels and Materials Nanotechnology R&D, Rice University, in Houston, Texas, held February 27 - March 1.
This workshop was the first in a planned series of linked workshops to begin exploration of the intersection of nanoscience and
nuclear technology.
