Recipient: 2000 Application to Practice Award



The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society's Application to Practice Award was established in 1985 to recognize outstanding achievement in the transfer of research results or findings in the metallurgical and materials science fields into commercial production and practical use as a representative of an industrial, academic, governmental, or technical organization.

Dwaine L. Klarstrom

Citation: "For outstanding contributions in the invention and commercialization of HAYNES® 230™, B-3™ and HAYNES® HR-120™ that have been used extensively in flying and land-based gas turbine engines, and in the chemical processing and heat-treating industries."

Biography: Dwaine L. Klarstrom is director of research and product development at Hayes International, Inc.

He earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in metallurgical engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1965, 1966, and 1970, respectively. He served on the program com-mittee for the Seventh International Symposium on Superalloys and on TMS’s High Temperature Alloys Committee.

Dr. Klarstrom has authored more than 40 technical papers and reports and holds five U.S. patents, with another pending. He is the recipient of several awards and honors.
