Sohini PalDey

Biography: Sohini PalDey is an assistant professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India. She earned her B.E. at Jadavpur University, India, in 1987; her M.Tech. in 1989 at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur; and her Ph.D. in metallurgical engineering at the University of Utah in 1995.

Quote: "As a third-time recipient of this prestigious award, I am gratified that my peers recognize the research work I am carrying out with my students, especially considering the fact that there are many other excellent research articles published in the field that deserve recognition. It is particularly rewarding to receive this award together with my former student and coauthor, in that it is the students who actually perform the experiments and make the calculations. We shared many difficult moments as well as the pleasure of obtaining new and sometimes unexpected results; thus, it is very meaningful to share this award with such a former student."
