Cosponsoring Societies: Advanced Steel Processing & Products Research Center, Forging Industry Educational and Research Foundation, Forging Industry Association
Cooperating Societies: ASM International, ISS Iron & Steel Society, Society of Manufacturing Engineers
Date: July 8-10, 1996
Location: Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado
Scope/Topics: This symposium will review new developments in microalloying, thermomechanical process design, property evaluation, and application of bar and forging steels. The effect of microalloy precipitation in control of hot deformation and subsequent precipitation to enhance strength of ferrite-pearlite and bainitic microstructues in steels of low to medium carbon content, evaluation of strength, fatigue, toughness, and fracture mechanisms in non heat treated steels or steel hardened directly after forging, and case studies on successful applications of new approaches are major topic areas.
The symposium technical sessions will be organized according to the following topics:
Monday Afternoon Session:
Microstructural Evolution
Tuesday Morning Session:
Forgeability and Process Design
Tuesday Afternoon Session:
Performance and Applications I
Wednesday Morning Session:
Performance and Applications II
