The Institute of Materials Processing at Michigan Technological University is an
innovative, non-profit research facility. Our pilot plant, laboratory, analytical
characterization, and testing facilities have been providing engineers and scientists
with the resources to study minerals, environmental concerns and materials processing
for over forty years.
The Institute focuses on the extraction, processing, recycling, and utilization of
materials and resources. We conduct sponsored technology development and research
for government and industry. Materials studied include metallics, ceramics, polymers,
composites, minerals, and industrial processing wastes. Expertise includes bench-top
experimentation through process development, pilot plant scale-up, and commercialization.
