Am I Eligible for Graduate Student Membership?

To be eligible for Graduate Student Membership, you must be either a full-time or part-time student enrolled in graduate-level studies. Students can remain members of this program up to six years or until graduation.

Please note that if you are employed full-time in the material science industry at the same time as pursuing your graduate program, we recommend that you join the TMS Professional Membership.

This program is not for undergraduate students. If you are an undergraduate, you can access TMS member benefits by joining the Material Advantage Student Program.

Postdocs are not eligible for this program. If you are a postdoc, please apply for professional membership or recent graduate membership, if applicable.

What is the Difference between the Material Advantage Student Program and the TMS Graduate Student Program?

Graduate student membership closely resembles TMS professional membership, including the ability to join a TMS technical committee and participate in the TMS Mentoring Program. Activities like these allow you to work with and learn from established professionals in the field. As a Material Advantage student, this level of access to professional members of the Society is not available. You may maintain membership in both the Material Advantage student program (ensuring access to the resources of all four Material Advantage partner societies) and the TMS Graduate Student program to maximize your benefits.
