Get Ready for the 2025 Bladesmithing Symposium!
Abstracts are being accepted for the 2025 TMS Bladesmithing Symposium, which will be held at the TMS 2025 Annual Meeting & Exhibition (TMS2025) from March 23–27, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Bladesmithing Symposium is made up of technical presentations focusing on bladesmithing processes and procedures. It provides an opportunity for participants to present their work associated with, or inspired by, the 2019, 2022, and 2024 Bladesmithing competitions, as well as for new presentations from students, student teams, and experienced TMS members with an interest in Bladesmithing. This is a traditional symposium and does not require the development or display of a blade.

About TMS Bladesmithing
The TMS Bladesmithing program makes such concepts as heat transfer, coke combustion, forging, welding, and quenching come to life for university students majoring in a minerals, metals or materials discipline. The centerpiece of TMS Bladesmithing is a hotly contested competition, held every other year at the TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition, that challenges student teams from around the world to produce a blade by hand hammering or trip hammer forging. In alternate years, students have the opportunity to present their current work on bladesmithing topics at the TMS Bladesmithing Symposium, also held at the TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition.
You can sign up to receive updates on future TMS Bladesmithing initiatives including the TMS Bladesmithing Competition and related symposia.
